100% electric school bus

November 4, 2014

The bus was unveiled at a ceremony in Quebec City on Friday. Dubbed the E-Lion, the bus can roll for 100 kilometres on a single charge.

The bus’ construction was made possible in part because of grants from the provincial government. It is the result of a collaboration between four compagnies from Quebec: Dana TM4 on supplying the motor, CNTA on developing the electric drivetrain, B3CG on providing the battery packs and Bus Lion. The electric bus will be tested on the territory of the Commission scolaire de Laval in the coming months.

If the tests are successful, the company will manufacture more of them. The company envisions selling several hundred electric school buses annually.
